Toons of the yore!

top cat

Confession: I was looking forward to watching cartoons with my kid and relive my childhood days.

Stark reality: I can’t stand majority of the toons that he watches!

duck tales

I once surfed all the channels and frankly speaking, couldn’t care less for all that was on! Where have all the great toons gone? When I look back, I enjoy the times when during summer hols, I could sit and watch T.V. the whole day! (of course I was always a movie buff from the beginning). I miss watching pink panther and his sneaky ways of not getting caught; the antics of dennis the menace and the way Mr. Wilson would, screech ‘Dennnniiiiisssss’; Richie Rich, the poor little rich boy; the globe-trotting treasure-hunting money-making adventures of billionaire Scrooge McDuck and his nephews; the antics of Fred, Barney, Wilma and Betty set in the stone age, or the more futuristic Jetsons! The Sunday morning duck tales and tale spin! And no write up on cartoons would be complete without special mention to Top Cat! (though I also personally believe that this cartoon can be enjoyed by adults equally!) and our very own Tintin! Oh, did I forget asterix, obelix, dogmatrix and cacophonix??

jetsonsThere were a number of strange toons which had started making appearance during my time but I still had quite a few sensible ones to see. Of course, by the time I was 10, not a single episode of mickey mouse, looney toons, chip n dale, Donald duck and tom and jerry had escaped attention! How I crave to watch them, without having to make the effort of downloading the same! (You see, I’m also an ardent Garfield fan

popeyeThe one latest toon I absolutely loathe and my son simply adores is Doreamon!

addams familyAnd to make matters worse, its dubbed in hindi!

All my efforts to get him off the same and get hooked

on to Disney movies have fallen flat! Well, I guess, that’s the order of nature!

So what have your favourite toons been? What do you love or simply can’t stand? Share your thoughts!
